Car Mechanic Simulator 2018 Cheats: Some Shortcuts To Help You Out

by Kelvin Yates

Car Mechanic is a really popular simulation game where players get to repair, paint, tune, and drive their own cars. Developed by Red Dot Games and published by PlayWay S.A., Car Mechanic Simulator 2018 skyrocketed the brand and the developer to massive success overnight. The sheer volume of people searching for Car Mechanic Simulator 2018 cheats proves this.

Right now the game has over 29,000 reviews on Steam, the majority of which (some 27,000 reviews) rate it as being very positive. That makes it one of the most liked games currently on the platform! In this guide, we’ll look at Car Mechanic Simulator 2018 cheats. But also, we’ll list out some console commands, and explain some handy tips and tricks, too.

If you are looking for all the best car mods in CMS we have created an article with all of this information for you, it is worth a read if you love the game. If you enjoy playing CMS then you might also want to consider other games like My Summer Car and the mods, where you can similarly build, maintain and modify your car just like this game, but with a classic twist.

Car Mechanic Simulator 2018

Yes, they do, and you’ll find most if not all of them in this article. As other players have already rightly pointed out, Car Mechanic Simulator 2018 isn’t an MMO game. So, there’s no point in grinding levels and slowly gaining experience just to reach a point where you’re satisfied with the game.

The amount of time it takes to reach level 30 is simply ridiculous. Hence, why many people turn to cheat codes and trainers which allow them to fully enjoy the game much sooner.

When it comes to gaining mega experience, unlimited money, or any other game perk for that matter, there are a couple of ways you can go about it. You can enter a cheat code directly into the game.

Or, you can download and run a trainer file which will unlock various perks. I’ll cover all possible methods in this article. This includes showing you how you can play around with the game’s crates. Plus, getting your desired perk every single time.

Car Mechanic Simulator 2018 Cheats

If you want the easiest way of gaining money and experience, it really doesn’t get much simpler than using cheat codes. To start, access the in-game computer. Then, select the little Bluetooth icon located at the very top-right corner of the screen.

A text field input should appear where you can enter cheat codes and get your desired perks. Pressing ‘Enter’ will input the text and you should receive the desired output. Here are the most popular Car Mechanic 2018 Cheat Codes:

Car Mechanic Simulator 2018 Cheats
Cheat Code What It Does
moneyplease This gives you extra money which you can then use in-game for tuning and painting.
moneybigtimeplease A variation of the cheat code above, except this one gives you $200.
imtoolazytogrindexp As its name would suggest, use this code if you don’t want to grind experience all day. This will instantly give you 50 EXP.
flyhigh This enables noclip mode. Or in other words, gives you the ability to fly and move through most of the game’s objects.

Car Mechanic Simulator 2018 Mod Manager

If you want an easy way of managing car config files and have a basic save game editor, then download this file we found on the Steam Community forum. It basically allows you to change your money and experience level, install or delete car mods (also track all mods), dial mods, and tinker with all the car config files.

The link to the Steam Community article explains more and delves a bit further, and there’s even a GitHub link where you can download it from or inspect the source code if you don’t trust the guys who created it and want to take a look at how it works for yourself.

Another easy way of gaining money and experience is to make a new profile with a cheat promo code. Do note though, that this only works if you start a new profile from scratch. It will not work with a preexisting profile, even if you AppData files to change your name.

When starting the profile, choose any of the following names, depending on how much money and experience you want to start with.

Car Mechanic Simulator 2018 Console Commands

Car Mechanic Simulator 2018 Cheats (Console Command)
Console Command What It Does
cms2018promo This is the full unlock, where you skip the tutorial, get maximum cash, full experience, and unlock every skill in the game. Think of it like a sandbox mode, where you’ve beaten the game and can now just play around and experiment.
cms2018stage1 This ‘teleports’ you to level 6 and gives you $8000 to start with. It’s great if you still want to beat the game on your own. Yet, would much rather not start from nothing.
cms2018stage2 This ‘boosts’ you to level 14 and gives you $19,000, to begin with. It’s the perfect starting point if you want to reach level 35 yourself. But, don’t want to spend an eternity doing it.

Do note that after you’ve created a new profile and started the game, you can just go to your game files, located in the AppData, and change the profile name from there directly. The next time you start the game it will warn you that your game files are out of sync with the Steam library, at which point you should select ‘Upload from local’ and the game will take care of everything else for you.

Car Mechanic Simulator 2018 Trainer

The one thing the author warns about is a best-practice effort: you should activate the cheats during the actual gameplay and not in the main menu. Another popular trainer for Car Mechanic Simulator 2018 Cheats is from the guys over at CheatHappens. This trainer, available for version 1.6.5., even has support for Steam.

Not only does the trainer increase money and experience, but it also unlocks all upgrades, gives you fast unmounts, the perfect condition of all parts, freezes order time, sets part quality, and adds barn to the map (as well as a few more perks you can view on their site).

If you’re running an older version of the game, such as 1.6.4, the guys have you covered, because if you scroll down further in the above-provided link, you can find a trainer compatible with older versions.

WeMod, one of the largest game communities for mods and cheat codes, also has a trainer for Car Mechanic Simulator 2018. You can find it here. It gives you unlimited money and mega exp, as well as max car parts condition, easy unmounts parts, and all parts examined.

Some users have warned that the mega experience doesn’t work as it reverts back to the original in a few seconds, but the admins over at Wemode have commented that they’ve sorted it out and it should now work as intended.

Car Mechanic Simulator 2018 Crates

Crates are in-game ‘loot boxes’ that can drop tuning parts or game additions. The disappointing thing is that they’ve been designed to very occasionally drop good parts or ‘loot’. Luckily for you, there is a way of tricking the system and getting a good item every time. Here’s what you do.

  • Step 1. Save your game by clicking the right mouse and selecting save game (alternatively, you can escape and save the game from there). Now go to the main menu and load the saved game again.
  • Step 2. Open a crate and see what you got.
  • Step 3. If you’re not satisfied with the parts you got, press the right mouse button, go to settings, and select load game (it’ll immediately load the last savepoint we created in Step 1)
  • Step 4. Rinse and repeat steps 1 through 3 until you get good parts or are satisfied with what you got.
  • Step 5. This is the most important part, so pay close attention. Once you have good parts, press the right mouse button, go to settings, and select save game. This way you won’t lose any of your progress or good items. If you want to open more crates, go to step one and start all over again with the new crate.

Things To Watch Out For

Even if you have multiple crates in your inventory, open just one crate and not all of them. If you open multiple crates there’s a very real risk you’ll get perfect parts in crate number one but normal parts and barn maps in crate number two.

Depending on how many mods you have and your PC, this entire process I outlined above shouldn’t take you more than a minute per repetition, so it’s easy to follow.

Car Mechanic Simulator 2018 Cheats repair

Don’t forget to look for tuning parts of a higher quality because every +quality step gives that individual part a 10% power increase. An example: a normal turbocharger has a +10% power increase while a +4 quality turbocharger has a +14% power increase.

What Each Level Gets You

One last thing before we start wrapping this article up. Here’s a list of what each individual level gets you, in case you wanted to grind your way up to level 35 or were interested in what you were skipping by using cheat codes.

  • Level 1
    • A basic garage with a 1-lifter, a tire changer, a wheel balancer, a spring puller, a radio, and a phone
    • One parking spot but you can buy more.
    • A test track. You can use it to diagnose broken steering, gearbox, and suspension parts.
    • A bonus track called ‘Abandoned Airport’. You can use it to play around with the cars in free roam. A great place for some ‘doughnuts’.
    • A race track. Can be used for time trials around a loop track.
    • A car salon, also known as a car dealer. You can use it to buy new cars.
  • Level 4+ – This is the Garage Level II Upgrade. It includes the addition of a test path and a repair bench to your garage. The test path is located in your shop and can be found through the red metal doors right by your repair bench.
  • Level 6 – The addition of barns. You can visit barns to purchase cars in decent-to-poor condition. Typically there are only a few cars available at a time. Note: if you do an exceptional ‘special customer job’, you might receive a barn earlier than level 6.

Level Progression – More Advanced Levels

  • Level 12+ – This is the Garage Level III Upgrade. It adds a 2nd lift and a parts warehouse. A welcomed addition is the engine lift system, as well as the engine stand.
  • Level 12+ – Adds everyone’s beloved garage customization. Allows you to transform and customize the garage to your own liking.
  • Level 13 – Introduces the junkyard. You can visit the junkyard to purchase banged-up cars and find random used parts. Similar to a barn except there are usually 6-8 vehicles at any given moment.
  • Level 19 – Adds auctions. Visit auctions to find cars in good condition that don’t require a ton of work. There are usually anywhere between 10 to 15 cars available at any given auction.
  • Level 30+ – The Garage Level IV Upgrade. It introduces the paint shop, a third lift, a welder (which can be used to repair car frames), and cleaning/detailing tools. At level 30 you also get a battery charger and a Dyno.
  • Level 35+ – If you get to level 35 you’ll be rewarded with the ability to repair body parts yourself. This should help you fix most cars to 100% without buying expensive body panels.

Car Mechanic Simulator 2018 Tips

If you want to play the game in its entirety without using any cheat codes. Or, just want tips that will further improve your gameplay experience, here are some of the best ones I’ve managed to find online.

I’ve browsed through a ton of forums and watched a lot of YouTube videos to give you the most insightful tips possible, all in one place. The tips are as follows, in no particular order of helpfulness or categorization.

If you’re not using cheat codes to gain levels and experience immediately, focus on core skills that will bring you the most net impact. I know you’ll have enough points to level most things up by the end. But at the start, you want to focus on skills that will help you grow quicker.

If you think a certain skill will get used once or maybe twice at best, then don’t level it up and just throw your points.

Car Mechanic Simulator 2018 Cheats, Tips & Tricks #1: Focus On Core Skills

Car Mechanic Simulator 2018 Cheats gain exp

Good skills to level up as soon as possible include but are not limited to, Wrench Speed, Repair, Store Discounts, Tablet, Garage Updates, and the Tablet. Skills you should NEVER level up at first include: Walking Speed, Customer Discounts, Strong Arm, and all Eagle Eye skills.

I’m not saying don’t level these skills up ever. Instead, I’m just saying try to avoid wasting points on them at the start. Walking Speed, for instance, is pretty useless, since you don’t spend a lot of time walking. Even when you do have to take a stroll once in a while, a fraction of a second or a second won’t make any difference to you in the grand scheme of things.

It’s the same thing with Eagle-Eye. The amount of time you spend visually inspecting parts is painfully negligible. So, leveling up this skill is just a waste of points. I will say that Customer Discounts sound like a good skill to level up at first.

However, it won’t make any difference in the long run. You’ll have so many jobs throughout the game you won’t see any real difference in income in the end.

Car Mechanic Simulator 2018 Cheats, Tips & Tricks #2: Best Way To Grind Experience

If you really want to grind your way up and not use ANY cheat codes, I suggest sticking to exhaust jobs. They take anywhere from 20 to 90 seconds to complete and cash out 100 XP each and every time. It’s still A LOT of time to spend grinding, but it makes the entire ordeal much more sensible.

Car Mechanic Simulator 2018 Cheats, Tips & Tricks #3: Best Way To Get Cash

If you’re strapped for money, just keep doing gearbox jobs. They usually take a couple of minutes to finish but they allow you to buy everything well in advance. This means you can stock up on pressure plates, bearings, flywheels, and clutch plates, and then just outright perform jobs without buying anything.

Depending on the job, you can get anywhere between $1000 and $9000, which is a lot! Always choose rear-wheel-drive cars over front-wheel-drive ones for gearbox-related jobs, since RWD vehicles require removing fewer parts. Not only are they twice as quick to complete but they typically pay out a little bit more.

Car Mechanic Simulator 2018 Cheats, Tips & Tricks #4: Putting In The Hours

If you’ve decided to grind it out and use no Car Mechanic Simulator 2018 Cheats, then good for you! You should note, though, that it will take you roughly 40 hours to reach level 30. Completing jobs for experience can be a bit dull.

Thus, I suggest taking on the occasional story mission here and there to break up the monotony.  If you get really fed up with grinding levels, grab a barn find and restore it to its former glory.

Car Mechanic Simulator 2018 Cheats, Tips & Tricks #5: Music Makes A Big Difference

This one sounds ridiculous until you try it. But once you do, you’ll be questioning yourself why you didn’t think of it sooner. There’s a little stereo near the work area that plays music, and it comes with a preset number of radio stations. Bored of listening to the same songs over and over again? Try changing the station. My personal favorite is the Classic Rock station.

Car Mechanic Simulator 2018 Cheats, Tips & Tricks #6: Reject Jobs From Time To Time

Don’t be afraid to give some jobs a pass, especially ones that seem difficult or tedious. Use your compression gauge or the OCD scanner to scan cars and engines before taking on any job.

Car Mechanic Simulator 2018 Cheats, Tips & Tricks #7: When To Buy Crates

Barns are easy to do since they only cost $100. Whenever possible, always buy the associated $200 crate from every barn you go to. There’s a method to get good parts, and I’ve outlined it above. But, even if you don’t use them, crates are still worth their price tag.

Stack up on crates as soon as possible since they’re more valuable at the beginning. By the time you hit level 35, you’ll turn down most customer jobs. This means crates will be significantly harder to come by. Work smart, not hard: use your money to buy crates instead of your time.

Car Mechanic Simulator 2018 Cheats, Tips & Tricks #8: Careful With Barn Maps

If you plan on buying any DLCs, save your barn maps and open them then. This will increase your chances of landing the car you want and you won’t be stuck with just a ton of barn maps.

Car Mechanic Simulator 2018 Cheats, Tips & Tricks #9: Repairing FTW

If I had to choose the most valuable skill, I’d definitely say Repair is the best skill in the game. There’s one catch though: avoid repairing until you’ve leveled it to 85% or more. The game wants you to start repairing sooner, but it doesn’t make a ton of sense to do so.

This is important because the repair is based on the part’s original condition. I’ll give you an example. If you need to repair a part to 100% but you need to click repair four times because you don’t have Repair leveled enough, it’s pointless.

Once you reach 85% Repair or more you can start repairing parts. One crucial note: parts below 15% can’t be repaired, so feel free to sell them. Most of the game’s consumables can’t be repaired either, and these include pistons, brake pads, rotors, drums, pushrods, bushings, rings, etc.

Car Mechanic Simulator 2018 Cheats, Tips & Tricks #10: Avoid The ‘Minimum Repair’ Pitfall

The game wants you to get crafty with your parts usage. So, it gives you an incentive to use used parts on cars with a minimum repair level. In reality, this is almost never the case since you either don’t have any good used parts. Or, the game has a high minimum part condition. Either way, if you’re using Car Mechanic Simulator 2018 Cheats, you’ll have the best parts available all the time!

We hope this extensive article helped you find the best Car Mechanic Simulator 2018 Cheats. For other games and interesting articles, please take a look at our other posts and share this article if you found it interesting.

Fortunately, CMS 2015 has a bunch of cheat codes that can help speed things up.

Car Mechanic Simulator 2021 Cheats

Brought to life by PlayWay and Red Dot Games, CMS 2021 is the latest edition in the series. It transports you into an authentic car repair workshop where you diagnose, repair, paint, tune, and drive cars, gradually expanding your workshop and enhancing your mechanic skills.

Cheat codes can prove helpful when you are keen to level up quickly or need a cash boost in the game. In CMS 2021, cheat codes are activated a little differently. They need to be used as a profile name when starting a new game profile.

While starting a new profile, choose cheat 1, 2, or 3 and make your profile name accordingly to activate the cheat.

Car Mechanic Simulator 2021 Console Commands

Console commands are like cheat codes, but instead of creating a new profile, you enter these into the game’s computer. These commands help modify certain game aspects and enhance the gameplay experience.

Access the computer in the game, click the Bluetooth icon located at the top right corner of the screen, and a text entry box will appear. Enter the console command here.

Console Command Effect

Although cheat codes and console commands can make your CMS 2021 journey easier, the essence of the game lies in the real-life challenges that come with being a car mechanic. Treat these codes as aids, not alternatives. Let the game challenge you, test your skills, and, in the process, make you an exceptional virtual mechanic. Happy gaming!

Car Mechanic Simulator 2021 Tips

If you’ve since moved on from Car Mechanic Simulator 2018 and are now playing CMS 2021, here are some valuable tips and tricks for you…

1. Smart Expansion Strategy

First off, it’s crucial to remember that expanding your garage should not be your initial priority. It’s enticing to have a larger workspace to tackle multiple projects, but don’t give in to temptation just yet. Pouring your hard-earned credits into early garage expansion could leave you cash-strapped and unable to afford essential tools or repairs.

2. Examination Mode: A Mechanic’s Best Friend

Next up is the Examination Mode. This feature should be your first step when working on a new car. It helps to identify the vehicle’s defective parts quickly, thereby streamlining your repair process. Remember, the sooner you diagnose the issues, the faster you can get your client’s car back on the road. So don’t skimp on utilizing Examination Mode.

3. Invest in Diagnostic Tools

Investing in Diagnostic Tools is a must. In the beginning, it might be tempting to splurge on expanding your garage, but these tools should take precedence. Tools like the OBD Scanner, Fuel Pressure Test, Tire Tread Tester, Electronic Multimeter, and Compression Tester are key to identifying hidden problems not immediately apparent in Examination Mode.

4. Sandbox Mode: Your Testing Ground

The game also features a Sandbox Mode. Here, you can experiment with various game mechanics without the pressures of completing orders or limited credits. It’s a stress-free way to familiarize yourself with different aspects of car repair before tackling the real thing.

5. The Power of the Renovator Skill

As you progress in the game, it’s vital to hone your character’s skills. One notable skill to develop is the Renovator. The Renovator skill lets you repair and refurbish parts from previous cars, saving you money and making your mechanic operation more sustainable.

6. Side Jobs: Choose Wisely

Side jobs may seem like an easy way to earn some extra cash, but they might not always be worth your time. While they can provide a small boost to your income and experience points, they often require more effort than they’re worth. Use them as a last resort when you’re in a financial pinch.

7. The Pleasure of Working with Music

Car Mechanic Simulator 2021 also features a fun, immersive detail: you can play your own music while working on cars! Using the U-Zer Radio No.1, you can upload .MP3 or .Ogg files to an appropriate folder and enjoy your favorite tunes while you work.

8. Efficient Repair Strategy

When it comes to part replacement, stick to repairing or replacing what is asked for in the repair request. Spending money on parts that aren’t needed isn’t cost-effective. Also, remember to keep a close eye on the oil levels when topping off. A job isn’t complete until the oil level is at least half full.

9. The Art of Car Interior and Body Care

As for the car’s interior and body, it’s essential to clean and weld them as required. Cleaning the interior boosts the car’s value to just $100, while welding the frame is only necessary when its durability dips into the yellow, orange, or red. Remember that replacing parts with more than 85% durability (green) or adding “Quality” parts doesn’t significantly raise performance.

The former is cost-ineffective, while the latter only boosts value. Lastly, be cautious with repair requests that include body parts, especially if they require a specific paint color. Don’t accept these if you haven’t unlocked the paint booth yet, as you won’t be able to complete the job.

10. Maximize Your Profit by Repairing and Reselling Cars

Early in your gaming journey, you’ll have a chance to turn a profit by purchasing, repairing, and reselling cars. Visit the junkyard or auction house to buy wrecks at a low cost, then return to your garage to start the restoration process.

Start with simple tasks like welding, washing, and interior detailing – this can often be enough to make a profit when you resell the vehicle. If the profit isn’t as high as you’d like, you can invest more in the car’s restoration until you reach a satisfactory return.

11. Repair and Sell Spare Parts

A smart strategy to make more money in Car Mechanic Simulator 2021 is by unlocking the repair skills as soon as possible. You can purchase repairable spare parts from the junkyard and bring them back to your garage for repairs. Once fixed, these parts can be sold at a higher price, giving you a nice profit.

12. Stockpile Repaired Parts for Future Use

Another approach to the game is to accumulate repaired parts for future use. You could save every repaired part or focus on specific car models. This will give you a stockpile of parts to use in future restorations. Engine blocks, gearboxes, and engine heads tend to be the most expensive parts, so having these on hand can significantly increase your profits.

13. Make Intelligent Purchases at Auctions

Unlocking the skill that allows you to predict a car’s real value can be a game-changer. Visit the auction house and look for premium cars in 5-star condition. If you manage to purchase a car for less than its actual value, you can resell it at a profit. Even if you bid slightly over the value, there’s still a chance to make a profit without investing anything into the car.

14. Take Advantage of Free Resources

Utilizing free resources like the battery charging station and the brake lathe can help you increase your profits. You can fully recharge batteries and work on disc brakes, adding value to the cars without any additional cost.

15. Temporary Unethical Moves

An unethical but efficient way to get a good cash injection at the start is to strip a customer’s car of all its parts and sell them. You then use the cash to buy and repair cars from the junkyard. This method is not recommended for long-term strategies, but it can be an easy way to get a quick cash injection when starting the game.

16. Use Mods to Increase Earnings

Subscribing to mods of cars can also increase your income. Some mods have very exclusive variants that can bring you a hefty profit when repaired. It requires being careful and meticulous, but it can be a lucrative venture.

17. Disable Travel Fees

In the early stages of the game, disabling travel fees can save you some money. This allows you to explore and find broken cars without any extra expenses, making your initial money-making process smoother.

18. Strategic Investment

Later in the game, it’s essential to invest your money wisely. One strategy is to bulk buy cars from auctions, then resell them as they are for a profit. This method requires a significant amount of capital (around 200K), and the Good Judgement perk which allows you to estimate car values better.

Some cars like the Nissan GT-R (R35) and Salem Earthquake Rex can fetch a high resale value. Remember, being successful in Car Mechanic Simulator 2021 requires a mix of strategic planning, smart investing, and a bit of luck at the auctions. Happy gaming!

Car Mechanic Simulator 2021 Part Not Discovered

In Car Mechanic Simulator 2021, one of the most common issues players encounter is the problem of “Part Not Discovered.” This scenario arises when car owners bring their vehicle to your shop for repairs, but they are unsure about what the actual problem is.

In the game interface, these unknown issues are marked as “Part Not Discovered,” and it is your job to figure out and repair these unknown technical difficulties.

1. Reasons for “Part Not Discovered” Issue

A variety of factors contribute to the “Part Not Discovered” problem. It could be due to parts being completely broken and needing replacement, or because certain parts are worn out and need to be fixed.

The challenge lies in the fact that these problematic parts are not directly mentioned in the Car Status, which leads to a sense of realism that mirrors real-world scenarios faced by car mechanics.

2. Locating “Part Not Discovered”

To uncover these elusive parts, you can make use of various diagnostic tools provided in the game. These tools include the OBD Scanner for overall diagnostics, the Compression Tester for mechanics, the Electronic Multimeter for electronics, the Tire Thread Tester for wheels and tires, and the Fuel Pressure Test for fuel-related parts like the fuel filter.

Using these tools will give you insights into the health of every internal part of the car.

3. Examining the Car Parts

After using the diagnostic tools, you need to scrutinize the results displayed. The status of each car part is color-coded: if it’s green, the part is working fine and doesn’t require repairs; if it’s yellow, it needs minor repairs; and if it’s red, it means the part needs to be replaced.

4. Extra Measures for “Part Not Discovered”

If after using these tools the “parts not discovered” issue persists, a manual examination of the car parts is necessary. This can be done by switching to the Examination Mode. By clicking on each car part, you can check for any abnormalities.

Pay particular attention to the suspension, as it often holds many problematic parts, such as rubber bushings and small rubber bushings, which are usually plentiful in the car’s suspension, both in the front and the rear.

5. Dealing with Persistent “Part Not Discovered” Issues

If even after these methods some parts remain undiscovered, it’s time to roll up your sleeves and delve deeper. You may have to disassemble all the parts to check them and fix them one at a time. While this process can be tedious, it’s crucial to learn where and which parts are fitted.

While the “Part Not Discovered” issue may seem daunting, remember that it adds to the realism of the game. It’s designed to challenge you and enhance your problem-solving skills, just like a real mechanic. As you continue playing, the process of identifying these parts will become easier and more intuitive. So, embrace the challenge, and happy diagnosing!
