Garmin Dash Cam 55 – Next Level Car Recorder

We have been testing the Garmin Dash Cam 55 dash cam for the past month and we have fallen in love with this impressive camera. We have previously tested the DrivePro 200 and we thought that was good, but the Garmin Dash Cam 55 took things to the next level.

The Garmin Dash Cam 55 brings with it a wealth of features that aren’t available on other brands. These extra features include lane departure warning, forward collision warning and GPS pathing technology. Most new cars don’t even have this technology, so adding the Garmin Dash Cam 55 to your vehicle can instantly make it a lot more advanced and safer. Read about some of the features below.

Lane Departure Warning

The intelligent camera is able to identify the lines on the road and notice when you start to sway out of your lane. Once detected, the dash cam gives you an audible warning to alert you to pay more attention. Depending on your driving style some may find it a little annoying, but it is certainly a good way to help keep yourself safe on the road.

Forward Collision Warning

The dash cam is capable of identifying if you are heading towards another car and will alert you audibly if it believes there is a chance of a collision. This is a very handy feature that again increases your safety on the road. The extra few seconds of warning you get could make the difference between life and death.

Voice Control

You can keep your hands on the wheel and still control the camera. You can say “OK, Garmin”,  take a picture or start/stop audio recording.

Travelapse

The Travelapse video capture feature provides an easy and fun way to record and share your adventures by condensing hours of driving into minutes of highlights.

Garmin GPS Information

This additional feature adds so much more value to the footage in case of an accident. The GPS information is overlaid onto your video, meaning that your location is always shown alongside your speed, date and time. This information could be essential for helping to decide what-went-on-where at a point in time.

Overall the Perfect Dash Cam

After spending a good amount of time with this dash cam and testing it in multiple cars I’m very happy with the product. The film quality is right on the money with leading full HD 1440p recording at 30 frames-per-second making it super clear. Getting the footage off the camera has never been easier with the app.
