Jaguar XE SV Project 8: The Fastest Accelerating Jag Ever

Jaguar Special Vehicle Operations Are At It Again With The New Project 8

Jaguar have just revealed the new limited run super saloon the XE SV Project 8. Based on the new Jaguar XE the new SV Project 8 is the second Jaguar to come from the JLR Special Vehicle Operations unit based in Coventry, the first being the F-Type Project 7 from 2014. The new XE SV will be limited to a run of 300 examples to make the car a much more exclusive project.

The Fastest Accelerating Jaguar Ever

Jaguar calls the XE SV Project 8 a, “hand-built four-door sedan with supercar performance”. The car boasts an impressive 592 bhp from a supercharged 5.0 litre V8 bringing a 0-62 time of 3.3 seconds and powering it to a top speed of 200 mph. The XE SV also uses the Jaguar all-wheel drive system and motorsport derived aerodynamics to be the fastest accelerating Jaguar road car ever.

The Bodywork Gains A Whole Host Of New Lightweight Upgrades

The upgrades don’t finish with the engine as the bodywork has received some substantial upgrades as well including a “Carbon Fibre Bumper with enhanced Cooling Ducts, vented Carbon Fibre Bonnet, flared bodywork covering 20-inch forged aluminium alloy wheels, adjustable Front Splitter, Flat Underbody, rear Carbon Fibre Bumper, rear Diffuser and adjustable Rear Aerodynamic Wing.” All of this makes the XE SV Project 8 the lightest V8 saloon in the Jaguar range.

Mark Stanton, director at Jaguar SVO says: “The SVO team is full of performance car enthusiasts that are now briefed to deliver motorsport science and soul in what is effectively a four-door supercar.” The team has given the XE suspension a substantial upgrade, along with the brakes with stiffer springs and adjustable continuously variable dampers, allowing the car to drop 15mm for track driving, along with Carbon ceramic brakes and Formula One derived wheel bearings.

A Four Door Saloon With Only Two Seats?

The XE SV Project 8 comes in two forms: the much more road-friendly standard four seat model, and the much more aggressive track pack which comes with only two lightweight Jaguar performance seats (rendering the rear doors pointless) with four point harnesses attached to a harness retention loop in place of the rear seats. All of the XE SV Project 8s will be left hand drive.

The Usual ‘High Performance’ Interior

That’s not the only upgrades for the interior however, as with most high performance track specials the XE SV is bathed in lashings of Alcantara on the seats, door cards and steering wheel. The XE SV also comes with paddle shifters for the 8-speed quick shift gearbox or you have the standard pistolshift centre lever.

The Jaguar XE SV Project 8 will cost you just under £150,000 and should be delivered to customers around May 2018.
