New Range Rover Velar To Fill Gap

Honestly, I’ve never looked at the Range Rover Evoque and the Range Rover Sport and craved something in between. Though, it seems Land Rover believes there is a gap in the market and filled it with the new Velar.

What is Velar?

Actually, the Velar name takes inspiration from the original prototypes of the original Range Rover born in 1969. Coming from velare, Latin for veil, it’s the ideal name for a prototype you want to keep under wraps. And, as you’ve probably already guessed, this new model will sit in between the Evoque and the Sport in the Range Rover, erm, range.  But the Geneva Motor Show next month will host the unveiling of the SUV, so until then, details are scarce.

So far, Land Rover states they’ve manufactured the Velar using unique sustainable materials and advanced engineering. In the meantime, details are a bit thin. But, I’m quite intrigued to see what the British SUV brand presents to the world next month with the unveiling of the Velar.

Land Rover Chief Design Officer, Gerry McGovern, said: “We call the Velar the avant garde Range Rover.  It brings a new dimension of glamour, modernity and elegance to the brand. The Range Rover Velar changes everything.”
