2022 Corvette Price

It is hard to ignore the Corvette when talking about the top-tier cars in the world. Corvette is often the first car that comes to mind when thinking about American muscle cars. The company has always pushed the boundaries when producing cars, outdoing themselves every year. This means 2022 will be no different for the company. Now all you need to know is the 2022 Corvette price.

A Corvette is a dream car for a lot of people around the world. One of the most anticipated arrivals for the next year in the world of sports cars. The first mid-engined Corvette Z06 is to be sold in 2021 as well as the 2022 model.

The excitement for the arrival of the new Corvette reached a new peak once it was teased to be a mid-engine Corvette. New information suggests that the Corvette Z06 will be more powerful and look more aggressive than the Corvettes of the past.

The 2022 Corvette is a terrific sports car in just about every category. The intense acceleration along with the ability to make sharp turns and still be as comfortable as it is makes it a stunning well-rounded car.  To further understand the car and the 2022 Corvette price, let us delve into the world of Vettes a little further.

Evolution Of The Corvette

The evolution of Corvette C1 to C8 is truly remarkable. It is hard to imagine how a country club cruiser could end up being a performance car icon in a few decades.

Things weren’t going well for the company in the early 1950s. Sales were poor on all fronts. This is when brand manager Thomas Keating decided to reverse its course. The solution that he proposed to GM Motors was to produce sports cars.

The name was set to be easy on the tongue and the car was produced under the code name project, Opel. During an era where the Europeans dominated the industry, it was a distinctly American take for a sports car. It was with a fiberglass body and  3.9-liter straight 6 engine coupled with a 2-speed automatic transmission. Yes, a 2-speed automatic transmission.

Debuted in GM’s 1953 Motorama, the Corvette built the foundation for its future and went on to be produced for customers. For the 300 customers who wanted to own a Corvette in 1952, the company kickstarted what would become a sensational automobile.

Since that first Corvette 7 more generations have followed. The 2nd generation debuted in 1963 introducing the iconic ‘Sting ray’ design, with a coupe body style, and mighty powerful engines. The third-generation C3 Corvette arrived in 1968. With time-appropriate huge wheel arches, pop-up headlights, and new T-top removable roof panels the Corvette further cemented its reign.

Ever since then Corvette made sure to modernize its styles and make powerful machines with engines that can produce 600 and 700 horsepower.

2022 Corvette Performance

Corvette is a bargain supercar that is certainly worth the price. It is hard to get the same numbers in any other car, that you get from Corvette for the price tag that it comes with.

Engine

The 2022 Corvette comes features a 6.2-liter V8 engine that is capable of producing 490 horsepower and 465 pounds per foot of torque. It is attached to an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. You get the 2022 Corvette with the standard rear-wheel drive option.

If you are willing to pay some extra bucks and commit to the Z51 performance package, it comes with a few more additional perks. Among those upgrades are a front splitter and rear spoiler, an enhanced engine cooling system, a stiffer suspension, larger brakes, and a better set of tires.

The performance exhaust, which is also another add on is a less-restrictive exhaust, and with this option, you will be able to get 5 more horsepower and an extra 5 pounds per foot of torque.

By The Numbers

Now that all the engine specs are clear, let us look at the numbers. With almost 500 horsepower the Corvette is wicked fast.

The Corvette can sprint from 0-60 in just under 3 seconds. With these speeds, it shares the same ground with the Ferrari F8 Tributo and the Ford GT. This is really impressive since Corvette offers this car at half the price of the other two.

Upgrading the Z51 package will get you from 0 to 60 in 2.9 seconds. This would make it faster than the Ferrari and the Ford GT. But there is a catch when you get the Z51 package, as it reduces the top speed.

The Corvette can run a quarter-mile track in 11.2 seconds. In the process, it reaches a top speed of 195 mph. By upgrading your Corvette with the performance pack, while the acceleration will increase the top speed drops to 185 mph.

Curb weight of around 3400 pounds certainly helps achieve peak performance as well.

Handling

When you talk about balance in sports cars, the Corvette is about as well-balanced as sports cars get. The Corvette can hold its own in the tightest hairpin curves, even at decent speeds. You won’t experience any sway or body lean. The Corvette is built to be an agile car. The perfect weight distribution gives the best possible control for the person behind the steering wheel.

The suspension in the Vette makes sure that the ride remains smooth and controlled over uneven pavement. You can get a far better experience with the optional Magnetic Ride Control system, which instinctively softens or stiffens the shock absorbers. For a sports car, it is surprisingly well built in a way that it can still be used as a daily driver or for long drives.

Fuel Economy

For a sports car, fuel economy is never its strong suit. The same is seen in the 2022 Corvette as well. It gets close to 16 mpg in the city and 24 mpg on the highway. In reality, it is not as bad as it sounds, especially for a V8. The Corvette has a fuel economy that is almost similar to other cars with massive V8s.

With a fuel capacity of 18. 5 gallons the car has a range of over 290 miles in the city and 440 miles on the highway.

Safety Features

The 2022 Corvette comes with standard safety features. The standard driving assistance features include a rearview camera and rearview parking sensors.

Available driver assistance features include a rear camera mirror which is a rearview mirror with an integrated camera view, forward-facing camera, head-up display, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert.

Reliability

The Corvette has received incredible reliability reviews. The car has a reliability rating of 89 out of 100. A J.D power reliability score puts it at 91 out of 100.

The car also comes with a 3-year 36,000-mile warranty. There is a 5-year warranty along with 60,000 miles for the power train.

2022 Corvette Interior

The performance of a supercar is totally useless if the interior is not up to par. It doesn’t matter how fast a car can accelerate if you cannot get a comfortable drive out of it. Thankfully, that is not a problem in the 2022 Corvette. The interior of the Corvette exceeds expectations.

The interior is sturdy and well put together. It is built with plentiful use of leather, soft plastic where it is supposed to be, and a splash of aluminum that gives bling to the interior. The square steering wheel and the climate control wall in the center of the console give the look of a luxurious jet inside the 2022 Corvette.

Infotainment System

The infotainment system plays a huge role in the quality of the interior. After all, we want to feel at home inside the car as well. The Corvette certainly does not disappoint in this aspect.

It includes a 12-inch digital meter cluster. Besides that, you will find an 8-inch touch screen on the right. The touch screen lies in a position where you can easily access it even while driving. Both the displays have intuitive layouts with just the right amount of graphics. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto come standard in the car. So, you can mirror your smartphone right in your dashboard.

It is a delight that the audio and climate controls are closer and easily accessible to the driver. At least for the driver, it is. The passenger doesn’t get a lot of control over these features. Still, the entire design of the interior looks astonishing.

The standard model comes with 10 stereo speakers but can be bumped up to 14 if you are someone that really needs quality music. Wireless device charging (you can find out more by checking our guide on how to sync my phone to my car), proximity keyless entry, push-button start, remote start, and a dashcam are just a few extra options that are available.

Space

Another important feature that cannot be overlooked is the spaciousness of the interior. The Corvette is a two-seat sports car that’s available in a coupe and convertible body style. So obviously it can only seat two people. Regardless the seats have enough headroom and legroom for taller drivers and passengers.

The convertible has a power-retractable hardtop. The coupe has a manually removable roof panel. You can store this in your trunk. The Corvette has front and rear trunks which have a combined area of 12.6 cubic feet of cargo space. The front has a smaller space that can store a few grocery bags or a couple of backpacks. The rear trunk is large enough to fit a set of golf clubs.

2022 Corvette Price – How Much Does It Cost?

For a car that can be compared head to head with the likes of Ford GT, Ferrari F8 Tributo, and the Dodge Challenger Hellcat (in particular, among the best Dodge Challenger years), the 2022 Corvette is a steal for the price that it is marked at. After all, it costs half the price of the Ford GT and still might end up beating the Ford in a drag race. So, what is the 2022 Corvette price?

The 2022 Corvette price at the starting line is $61,000  for the coupe and $68,500 for the convertible. According to the trim you purchase and any additional features that you require, the price could go up to 6 figures.

The Z51 Performance Package costs an extra $6400. The Magnetic suspension system is totally worth its $1900 cost (you can learn more in our guide on shock vs strut). If you opt for the performance exhaust you will have to pay an additional $1200. For an additional $2260 you can front axle lift system. This will increase the height of the front bumper by 1.6 inches.

If you run through a lot of speed bumps or drive through bad roads, this might be an add-on that you need to have. These are the primary performance upgrades. Other than the above you have dozens upon dozens of appearance and upgrades extra features.  Depending on the upgrades that you get the price would rise from the base price.

Which Trim Will Suit You

Finding the suitable Corvette for you depends on finding the exact trim that suits you. Keep in mind that this is an affordable supercar. If you do not want to spend $80,000 or $90,000 for your car it is fine. The $60,000 trim contains everything needed to make it a supercar.

Even if you are someone who likes a convertible over a coupe you do not need to spend the extra $7000 for the convertible. Just remove the top of the coupe and you have a convertible. If you think you need your roof back, take it out of the trunk and mount it. You need not spend a lot on this car.

But if you have money to spare, and love the additional features that the car has to offer you can spend some extra bills and get a higher-end trim. While the base trim is 1LT you can consider upgrading to a 2LT or 3LT trim.

Corvette 1LT

This is the base model and as mentioned comes with the lowest price tag which is $61,000 and an extra $7000 if you want a convertible. Though this is the base model that doesn’t mean it lacks cool features.

You get all the features that were mentioned throughout the article and a few more. You get leather upholstery, power-adjustable GT1 seats, Brembo brakes, and staggered 19- and 20-inch wheels.

Options include racing-inspired seats with carbon fiber accents, a navigation system, and an array of cosmetic upgrades.

Corvette 2LT

The Corvette 2LT is the first step up from the base trim. This is priced at $68,200 for the coupe. And for the convertible the same $7000 deviation stands, pricing it at $75,200.

In the 2LT trim along with the features in the base model you get heated and ventilated seats, navigation, a 14-speaker stereo, heated steering wheel, performance tracker with a dashcam, and blind-spot monitoring.

If you need a raised front axle raised you would have to purchase the 2LT trim. This trim has its line-up cosmetic upgrades which include the sporty GT2 seats.

Corvette 3LT

The Corvette 3LT is priced at $72,850 for the coupe and $79,850 for convertibles. This trim adds the GT2 seats and some additional leather upholstery on the doors, dashboard, and center console.

You also have the exclusive add-on which is the IMSA GTLM Championship C8.R Edition. With this, you get Accelerate Yellow Metallic or Hypersonic Gray Metallic paint, a full-length racing stripe, a high wing rear spoiler, black wheels, ground effect trim, splash guards, gray and yellow interior accents, a suede-wrapped steering wheel, and painted brake calipers. All these for the price of just $6600.

Corvette VS Competition

While the Corvette z06 can compete against the Ford GT and the Ferrari or any other supercar, comparing the Corvette with these cars is not a fair comparison. The primary reason is price deviance. The Corvette is a lot cheaper than a lot of supercars in the market. Due to this when comparing the Corvette with other supercars, it instantly becomes an unfair comparison.

Since the Corvette is offered at half the price compared to most other supercars, it should be compared with cars in that price range. Trying to search for a supercar close to the $70,000 range is hard because there aren’t many cars for that price that can go from 0 to 60 in under 3 seconds. Non the less there are a couple of other supercars that are closer to the 2022 Corvette price range.

2022 Corvette VS Porsche 718 Cayman

The Porsche 718 Cayman is great compared to the 2022 Corvette. Both are 2 seater mid-engine sports cars. Both cars handle really well and they are enticing to drive. Whether it be on hairpin turns or everyday commute they offer the same level of comfort as well. And best of all, both start at under $61,000.

The key difference between the two cars is the engine. While the Corvette hails with a gigantic V8, the Porsche is revving with 4 and 6 cylinder engines. Even with the smaller engine, the Porsche 718 Cayman is known to get to over 180 mph. For a smaller engine that is really impressive. The acceleration is also surprisingly good. The Porsche can slingshot from 0 to 60 in just 3.2 seconds. With these numbers and the price, it is evident that both are really good sports cars.

2022 Corvette VS Chevrolet Camaro

Competing against the Corvette is a member of its own family, the Chevrolet Camaro. It is important no mention that the Camaro is nowhere near capable of going against its cousin the Corvette. It doesn’t reach the speeds that the Corvette does nor does it have nimble handling as the Corvette. But it is significantly cheaper. It starts at just $25,000.

The Camaro is offered in 4, 6, and 8 cylinder engines. It is also available in manual transmission if you love driving a stick. The Camaro can reach a top speed of 140 mph and clock in at 5.9 seconds on its 0 to 60.  Even though the Camaro lacks a bit in performance, for the price it is a decent and affordable sports car.

2022 Corvette VS Ford Mustang Shelby GT350

When you talk about American muscle cars, another car that has earned its spot beside the Corvette would be the Ford Mustang. While the Mustang starts as low as $30,000 to compete with the Corvette you have to be willing to spend close to $70,000. With that price, the Mustang can go toe to toe against the Corvette.

Ford Mustang GT350 is powered by a 5.2 liter V8. If you can handle it with a few upgrades you will get upwards of 500 horsepower under your foot. This can hold a couple of extra passengers than the Corvette since it has a seating capacity of 4. Even with the extra seats the Mustang only weighs  3800 pounds.

Let us get to the real conversation, how fast is the Mustang?  The Mustang can also reach a top speed of 185 mph. While it can match the Corvette when it comes to the top speed, it falls half a second short when it comes to the 0 to 60. The Mustang can sprint from 0 to 60 in 3.5 seconds. The rest of the specs are almost the same while comparing the Corvette and Mustang. A key advantage that the Mustang has over the Corvette would be the couple of seats in the back.

For the price, the Mustang is also an exquisite sportscar.
