From Montreal comes Helgray Watches. The Helgray TCD-01 Blue is a recent entry of the brand. Visually speaking the TCD draws influence from contemporary designs and with its simple dial configuration, this watch spells out modern simplicity in time telling.
There is one detail that gives the TCD-01 Blue extra character in the Brand. The luminescence of the hands, numbers and hour markers. This we’ll discuss later. For now, sit back and enjoy what the TCD-01 watch presents.
Helgray Tcd-01 – Fitting and Finish
The common saying ‘give credit where it’s due’, is the theme here. Helgray paid great attention to details when designing and building the TCD-01 Blue watch. The brand equipped this watch with the basic Rhonda Quartz 513 movement.
The TCD-01’s, 42mm by 11mm case is nicely finished, and made of titanium that is bead blasted to give it its unique luster yet simple in the way it is executed on the Bezel which is Titanium Black PVD coated. The narrow polished segments of the case connecting the upper and lower lugs of diameter 50mm, complement the reflections of the slightly domed sapphire crystal quite well, thus adding an extra flash to the titanium color and texture.
On the underside of the case, the same polishing is mirrored, though it can only be marveled at when handling the watch and not when wearing it. Finally, the TCD-01 Blue case back won’t be complete without the brand logo, movement number and other intrinsic detail being etched on it. A good point to note is that Helgray took their time to etch them further deep to prevent wear with time.
The dial is Matte Blue with Superluminova C3 markers of different shapes (triangle, rectangle, and circle). As I stated earlier, these markers tend to glow in the dark after absorbing some light. This is due to the luminous material that coats the markers and the dial hands. Therefore, you can still tell the time in the dark!
The bracelet is Titanium made just like the case, with a bonus 22mm Nylon-Mil strap.
Functionality and Wearability
When it comes to wearing the TCD-01Blue watch, it clearly is made for both casual and formal situations. In addition, it’s ideal for the sandy beaches and swimming pools as it’s rated at 30 ATM. It wears comfortably around the wrist-hugging it quite nicely, so wearing it all day in the office is not a problem.
My Verdict
Helgray designs their watches with the liberation of the casual style in mind, but also to affordable, less maintenance and accurate timepieces.
Helgray TCD-01 Blue boasts a £220 price tag, and with its unique characters and durability is a perfect choice. In addition, this exquisite watch is a conversation starter and Helgray has announced they are sticking to their affordable price range as they launch new models. This is safe to say, you’ll have no trouble saving up when the time comes to purchase a time piece. This said, I strongly recommend you to give this Canadian Brand a try.
