Robert Llewellyn’s Fully Charged, a popular YouTube channel promoting such vehicles, is going Live at Silverstone Circuit in June in front of 5,000 people.
As diesel car sales decline and petrol prices increase, British pundits are searching for cost-effective modes of transport powered by cleaner energy sources.
It is becoming more common for car manufacturers to offer hybrid power-trains in their new models yet few are committed to producing fully electric vehicles for the public.
Fully Charged LIVE is sponsored by Ecotricity and vows to bring together various elements of cleaner, cheaper fuel alternatives under one roof.
The show will be presented by Scrapheap Challenge’s Robert Llewellyn, Fifth Gear’s Jonny Smith and Helen Czerski of From Ice to Fire.
This group of seasoned TV personalities will present an array of features, alongside sixteen ‘live sessions’ in front of the audience.
Fully Charged LIVE – What’s On Offer
Alongside these features and live sessions, visitors will have access to an Ask the Experts arena, an exhibition of Renewable Energy Technologies, a Hospitality Zone, Pit Garage and Paddock all full of attractions for big kids of all ages.
Fully Charged LIVE will also hold the record for the largest gathering of electric vehicles in Great Britain with more than 50 on display. The line-up is interesting and diverse ranging from the more pedestrian cars such as the BMW i3 and Kia Soul, to the more imaginative and unique offerings such as a fully-electric Ferrari 308GT, original Range Rover, and ’65 Fiat 500.
A selection of motorbikes and bicycles will also be featured alongside the huge collection of cars.
The Live Sessions
Live sessions on offer aim to educate the audience on the practicality and usefulness of owning an electric vehicle – alongside the greatly reduced carbon footprint their commuting will generate.
These live sessions include: ‘Introduction to owning an Electric Vehicle’, ‘Generating your own heat & power at home’ & ‘Global Shift: what does the next decade look like for Energy & Transport?’ Confirmed participants include Ecotricity’s founder, Dale Vince, as well as Imogen Pierce from Jaguar Land Rover, Francisco Carranza from Nissan Energy Services, Tom Callow from Chargemaster, Graeme Cooper from the National Grid, Nina Skorupska from the REA & Nikki Gordon-Bloomfield from Transport Evolved.
