5 Seconds Faster Than The Previous Record Holder The Porsche 918
Lamborghini will now have another thing to boast about when they unveil the new Lamborghini Huracan Performante at the Geneva Motor Show. The Huracan Performante just smashed the record for production cars round the Nurburgring. The previous record holder, the Porsche 918 Spyder set a lap time of 6:57, the new Hurancan Performante managed to knock off an incredible 5 seconds, setting the record at 6:52. The Huracan was driven by Lamborghini test driver Marco Mapelli, who also drove the Aventador SV round the ring as well.
It Actually Had A Slower Top Speed Than The Aventador Sv
The Huracan Performante reached a top speed of 188MPH, which is actually 14MPH slower than the Aventador SV managed. But the better handling of the Huracan resulted in a time 7 seconds faster than the Aventador. The Huracan Performante is set to be revealed at the Geneva Motor Show in the coming weeks and was heavily camouflaged during the lap. Noticeable upgrades however were the impressive new rear wing and the aggressive front splitter, power is also expected to rise from the standard Huracan’s 601BHP to between 650 and 700BHP matching or even beating the McLaren 675LT’s 666BHP.
The Huracan Performante Is A True Track Monster
The Porsche 918 time was set back in 2013 when the car was first revealed, and when comparing the two the Huracan Performante has pulled off an impressive feat, while we don’t know exact figures for the Huracan its unlikely to be producing more than 700BHP and has no hybrid motor to back it up either. Even though its bigger brother the Aventador SV has a higher top speed round the track the little Huracan still beat it. The result? The Huracan Performante has some incredible handling and unbelievable grip thanks to its all wheel drive system. For reference the standard Huracan set a time of 7:28 round the ring meaning the Performante is 36 seconds fast, truly incredible.
