Skoda Elroq Electric SUV

Skoda’s All-Electric Elroq SUV Starts From An Attractive £31,500

With cars gradually becoming more and more expensive these days, the sea of unobtanium is thankfully broken up every now and then with some well-priced, well-rounded cars. I’d say the guys and gals at Skoda are among the best at that, alongside other brands like Dacia, at least here in Europe. To show off that Skoda hasn’t forgotten its core audience and those of us who can’t afford 6-digits for a new car, their all-new Elroq electric SUV will start from an attractive £31,500 starting price. If you’re already interested, make sure you mark your calendars, as the configurator is already open, and the order books will start taking orders pretty soon, too!

For those that might not be familiar with Skoda’s line-up, the Elroq will slot in below the multi-award-winning Enyaq, offering a slightly more compact option, for those of us that don’t need the extra space. Plus, it’s not like you’re sacrificing a lot by opting for the cheaper option either, as the Elroq will come as standard with a good bit of equipment across all trim levels. This gets you, for example, LED headlights and taillights, a 13-inch infotainment system, digital gauges, a rear-view camera, parking sensors, and Type 2 charging cables. Moreover, some trim levels offer up to 175kW DC rapid charging, which is a really nice inclusion for this price point.

Electrifying Value For Money & Superb Features

Speaking of, the all-new Skoda Elroq comes with three battery options. Depending on the trim level, there’s the 55kWh battery pack (WLTP range of over 230 miles), the 63kWh battery pack (WLTP range of more than 250 miles), and the 82kWh battery pack (WLTP range of more than 360 miles). Between these batteries, you could pick and choose from four different trim levels, which should be familiar among Skoda owners… SE, SE L, Edition, and SportLine. These have a starting price of £31,500, £33,350, £34,450, and £37,400, respectively. Personally, I think a lot of would-be owners would be more than satisfied with the entry-level trim Elroq levels.

The only major upgrades by moving up the ladder are mainly for the larger battery. So, that can be a nice addition if you regularly drive long distances. Elsewhere, the higher trim levels afford you nicer upholstery and posher interiors, swapping out fabric for leather. Other nice upgrades that you get with the mid-range and top-tier trim levels include the addition of rapid charging, heated seats, satellite navigation, keyless entry, wireless charging, adaptive cruise control, and more. If the entry-level SE trim level might be too sparse for you, the Edition trim is probably a good option, given that you have the option to spec the big 82kWh (77kWh net) battery.

Could This Be The Best Bang-For-Buck Electric SUV?

Additionally, the Edition trim also includes privacy glass, acoustic windows, dark chrome, a set of dark alloy wheels, and more driver assists. The top-of-the-range SportLine trim, meanwhile, does compromise on its range a teeny tiny bit. However, you do get a sportier trim overall, like the inclusion of matrix LED headlights, SportLine-specific bumpers, and gloss black roof rails. A SportLine-spec Skoda Elroq further gets you sports seats with microsuede and leather, a bit of carbon effect trim, and a heated sports steering wheel. If you need a bit more on top of that, of course, Skoda offers a wide range of optional extras that you could personalise your Elroq.

There are multiple alloy wheel options and interior designs, and other bundles or packages to tack onto your shiny new Elroq. Aside from that, there are other, more consequential options, such as a heat pump for that battery pack, a dynamic chassis control system, and an electronic, retractable tow bar. Plus, some of those Elroq trim levels offer upgradable battery packs, like how the SportLine 85 (optioned with the bigger 82kWh battery) starts from £41,600. All in all, the Skoda Elroq sounds like it could be a fantastic option for those of you shopping around for an electric SUV. For the price, I can’t think of many other options that offer you this much!
