ALFA ROMEO GIULIA VELOCE 1

Veloce Added to Alfa Romeo Giulia Range

Alfa Romeo has expanded the Giulia range and it now also features the Veloce. The beautiful styling of the Speciale is combined with an exclusive 2.0 litre turbo petrol engine. The Giulia Veloce aims to offer affordable performance and luxury. Therefore, it will sit between the Giulia Speciale and flagship Giulia Quadrifoglio.

Little Luxuries

The new Veloce emulates the Speciale’s sports styling with the sports bumpers, black gloss window surround and rear sports diffuser with dual exhausts, in particular. However, it also adds 18 inch 10-spoke Turbine alloy wheels and black brake callipers. Misano Blue paint is an attractive and exclusive option on the Giulia Veloce. It’s a bold choice that will certainly stand out from the crowd, not to mention every other Alfa Romeo Giulia. Inside, there is the luxury of choice as the Italian leather sports seats come in either black, tan or red. The Veloce has a driver-focused layout, which includes aluminium shift paddles on the steering column.

Among the features to come as standard on the Veloce are headlamp washers and an upgraded braking system with larger diameter front and rear brake discs. It has a standard dual-zone climate control, Alfa DNA driving mode selector and an 8.8 inch Alfa Connect infotainment system.

Efficient Engine

It’s all very well sitting in comfortable Italian leather but you need to actually move too. The four-cylinder engine is made entirely of aluminium, no doubt helping the Veloce zip from 0 to 62 mph in 5.7 seconds. It generates 280 hp and a maximum torque of 400 Nm at 2,250 rpm, with a top speed of 149 mph. The 2.0 litre partners with an eight-speed automatic transmission and rear wheel drive. The MultiAir electro-hydraulic valve activation system is a mouthful but should reduce fuel consumption. The Veloce also features a ‘2-in-1’ turbocharger system and direct injection, with 200-bar pressure. This new engine is made in the factory at Termoli, Italy. It returns 46.3 mpg on the combined cycle and emits just 141 g/km CO2. The result is a responsive yet efficient drive.

Giulia Veloce Safety Soars

Safety is never the most exciting aspect of a car to discuss and it is unlikely to make headlines unless it is for the wrong reasons. Nonetheless, safety often ranks surprisingly high on drivers’ considerations when purchasing a new vehicle. Reassuringly, the Giulia Veloce has a 5 star Euro NCAP rating as well as a 98% score for passenger safety. There are a number of modern safety enhancements. The Veloce comes with front and rear parking sensors as standard. All models in the Giulia range include Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) with pedestrian recognition, Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Integrated Braking System (IBS) and cruise control with speed limiter.
