Don’t you just hate it when your car stops working? Even though it’s sometimes beyond our control, eventually your old car will just tap out and not start again. It’s inevitable and sad, but there are ways to make the most out of this situation. Take a look below at some of the things you can do with your defective car.
Salvaging What You Can
If repairing it yourself is not an option anymore, you could sell or tear it down piece by piece. If you’re going to sell non running car parts or the entire thing altogether, be sure to contact your local mechanic and an owner of a junkyard. They would know how much the whole vehicle would cost to sell, and if it’s more lucrative for you to sell every part on its own or not.
Depending on the state of the car, a few parts that still have a chance could be worth more than the car itself. Or you could just let them harvest the working parts and crush the rest to salvage metal. Either way, it might be much better than letting it collect dust in your garage.
Consider Donating It
This is an option that might seem odd, but donating the car is actually a good choice. If you’re going to do all the work and contact people, making ads, going back and forth, and so on, it would waste a lot of your time, and might cost you quite a bit of money. Not to mention the effort and the hassle when it comes to doing it all on your own. But if you donate it to charity, telling them everything about its state. You might be looking at a nice tax return for it, so it would be worth the try.
Turning It Into A Piece Of Art
This is a very unorthodox but highly creative decision. Just start by getting rid of all the gas and fluid in the car, clean it all up real nice then have a go at it. You could make it your little side project, maybe using it as a piece of furniture, or making it a fun planter for different plants and flowers. Even though it’s technically unusable now, it doesn’t mean that it’s life is over. Surely if you’re up for it and creative enough, you might find something special to do with your old antique of a car.
Keeping it as a family heirloom
It is not far fetched that the car that has now become defective is the car that has been a part of your family or your history for many, many years. And for many, it’s hard to part with something that has this much sentimental value. There is always an option for you to have it cut in a way that it can be used as a show piece in the family’s homes to remind them of the good times. For most people, nostalgia is a very important thing, so having the car’s memory live on with everyone in your family is actually a very common thing to do.
The Choice Is yours
There are many different things that you could do with your vehicle that doesn’t work anymore. It all depends on the time and effort you’re willing to put in, not to mention the money and resources. Just remember that the car had a wonderful life and has done its job for many years. It has earned its eternal rest.
