Audi announces new specs across a range of models for 2018
Audi A4 Black Edition – Back to the Black Edition
Audi launches Black Edition models once again to complement their 2018 Model year. According to Audi’s website, the ‘Moderately mind-boggling’ Black Edition promises ‘More character’ and ‘More style’ than the original models. Tinted privacy glass, black rims surrounding 19-inch alloy wheels, black exterior mirrors, a flat-bottomed steering wheel, piano black inlays and a black exterior styling pack are just a few of the added perks of owning a Black Edition Audi. Unsurprisingly, the Black Edition is back by popular demand. Showcasing exclusive styling, an extensive range of equipment and a resonating road presence, Black Edition is the dark crème de la crème of any Audi model.
Next year, Audi Black Edition gives that extra edge to two more Audi models. The A4 Saloon and Avant can both be pre-ordered now with all of the Black Edition bite. The OTR price for the special edition A4 Saloon starts at £32,350, while the Avant costs upwards of £44,350. Black Edition has a reputation for being immensely popular. More than 50 per cent of customers ordering previous A4 models chose the Black Edition over its standard counterpart. So, if you feel yourself falling for a flawless Black Edition, you’d better get your order in ASAP.
The Dark Side of A4 – Audi A4 Black Edition
Audi’s A4 range has a popular track record, and for good reason. The new Black Edition models look set to be even more so. These special editions are available with the full A4 engine range, from entry level 1.4 TFSI with 150PS right through to the immense 272PS V6 quattro. Heading over to the dark side of the A4 also offers astounding street appeal. 18-inch 10 Y-spoke gloss black alloys come as standard. Upgrade to 19-inch, five-arm rotor alloys with a matt titanium finish to get an added flare of finesse.
A full titanium black styling pack surrounds the entire model to set the Black Edition a cut above the rest. The pack extends from mirror housings, window surrounds and air intakes right through to side skirts, a singleframe grille and a rear spoiler (on the Saloon). The Avant benefits from black roof rails to complete the dark look. Need a bit of peace and quiet on the homeward commute? Benefit from the Black Edition’s improved acoustic front side windows for a fabulously silent cabin that oozes luxury.
Added Value, For Less
Black Editions from the A4 range now benefit from up to £550 of extras for free. That’s right, folks! Inside the new and improved models, it only gets better. Black Edition A4 models benefit from a new flat-bottomed, multi-function steering wheel and piano black inlays. From SE specification upwards, other detail enhancements have been made which can total up to £550 of added customer value. All models now feature a roof panel-mounted button to put you in touch with Audi’s connect Safety & Service.
The A4 range boasts an advanced internet-enabled on board network, reaping the benefits of the added function. Emergency calls, online roadside assistance and Audi service request functions can all be reached through the cabin of your car. For Sport models, the special edition doesn’t stop here. An upgraded multi-function steering wheel, a 7-inch full colour Driver’s Information System, and front seat heating with Twin Leather upholstery make a satisfying mix. S line models ditch the cloth and leather combo upholstery for an Alcantara and leather mix. Whether it’s a Sport series or a more humble model, Audi’s Black Edition adds those little extras that make a great car even greater.
Elsewhere at Audi
Alongside the Black Edition launch for its A4 models, Audi have upgraded their standard specifications for other cars with the introduction of their 2018 Model Year. From the entry level A1 and up, cruise control and rear parking sensors now come as standard for every new Audi. An enhanced Technology Pack also sets a new standard for Audi. Every model now comes equipped with a fully digital Audi virtual cockpit, an Audi Phone Box with wireless charging. MMI navigation plus, with MMI Touch, comprises the full range of Audi connect infotainment services.
New vehicles will also benefit from enhanced Comfort and Sound Packs. Depending on the model and personal preference, a range of standardised features are now available. These include front parking sensors, a reversing camera, hill hold assist, BOSE or Bang & Olufsen sound systems, heated front seats and advanced key keyless access systems.
Audi A4 Black Edition – Making A Mark
Wrapping up the 2018 Model Year launch, Audi have now introduced a feature that serves solely to give that feeling of lavish luxury. The ‘Audi Beam’, shown below, has become standard equipment for S (from the S3 upwards) and RS models. Whenever the car is parked with its front doors open, the four rings of Audi are projected from LED lighting onto the pavement. For RS models, the rings transform into the Audi Sport logo.
