The Grand Tour vs Top Gear: Let The Battle Commence

So after months of speculation the new Amazon Prime show headed up by Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May will be called The Grand Tour. The name comes from, as Clarkson puts it; “We’ll be travelling the world hosting each episode in a different country, from a giant tent. It’s a sort of ‘grand tour’, if you like. So we’ve decided to call it The Grand Tour.”

A Worldwide Programme

The show has been seen filming in London, Portugal, Africa and Barbados. One feature that is known to exist is a final showdown between the Ferrari LaFerrari, the McLaren P1 and the Porsche 918 that takes place at the Algarve International Racetrack in Portugal. The Facebook page teases many of the films the team will be making, including images of the trio in military garb and relaxing in the North of Africa.

The Focus RS Against the Mustang is Coming

The page also teases Jeremy Clarkson testing the Ford Focus RS, with an image of some ruined tyres and the caption, “So I’ve been using the drift feature on the Focus RS”. This came along with an image of both a Focus RS and Ford Mustang accompanying it. Although these images were released via the presenter’s Twitter accounts as well.

Exciting Times for Motoring TV

Top Gear has also been gearing up for the new beginning with multiple trailers being released. Whilst there has been a lot of worrying news coming from the show, watching the trailers will put many at ease. It will certainly be interesting to see how the show will change from the Clarkson, Hammond and May era. The new series will appear on the 29th of May with The Grand Tour coming ‘Autumn 2016’.
