This Subaru Impreza Hearse May Be The Most Unique Funeral Car

Autosport International 2025 had its fair share of eye-catching vehicles on display, but perhaps the most eye-catching was a Subaru Impreza hearse. Alongside a converted Mini Clubman, it attracted some, but not enough (in my opinion), attention. While funerals are usually sombre occasions, dominated by black outfits and hearses, there’s a growing trend of more personal cars being used, and this rally-inspired option may be the most interesting vehicle available for funerals.

The Story of the Subaru Funeral Car

The car in question is an Impreza WRX estate, starting out life as a performance car in 2005. It will be one of the fastest hearses in the UK, without a doubt, with a 0-62 mph time of 6.2 seconds. It was converted in 2019, with the estate shape allowing for a range of coffin sizes.

Belonging to Final Journey Funeral Cars, it has been decked out in the full rally livery and mainly resides in the Midlands, although it has attended events and funerals across the country. It first appeared in 2020, proving popular on Facebook for its unique nature. It also appeared in Coronation Street this year, further adding to its notoriety.

The Second Act: A Mini Cooper Clubman

The company has since acquired a Clubman that has received the same treatment as the Subaru. Bought in 2021, it was first seen in pictures in 2022. It was built with children’s funerals in mind but can accommodate larger coffins. Originally white, it has since been wrapped in a far more distinctive pink, making it one of two (to the best of my knowledge) hearses in this colour on UK roads.

It seems to be less popular than the Subaru Impreza hearse, but still regularly appears at motoring and funeral events across the country. Most importantly, it adds more choices for families to choose from to find one that best represents their loved one.
