TOZO Open Buds Review – Freedom to Move Without Blocking the World Out

The TOZO Open Buds are not your traditional in-ear headphones. They’re part of a growing trend in audio tech, open-ear, open-air designs, and after putting them through their paces, we can confidently say: they just make a lot of sense, especially for people who live active lifestyles or simply don’t like stuffing things into their ears.

Design & Fit – Unorthodox but Surprisingly Comfortable

Straight out of the box, the TOZO Open Buds make an impression. The vibrant blue model we tested stands out immediately, not just for the colour, but for the robust build and thoughtful design. The biaxial rotation mechanism is a standout feature, it allows for both horizontal and vertical adjustments, letting you fine-tune the fit until it’s spot-on. This means they stay secure whether you’re running, cycling or commuting, and you won’t feel that pressure typical of in-ear buds.

And because these don’t actually go inside your ear, there’s no fatigue or discomfort over longer listening sessions. The open-ear format also gives you vital situational awareness, ideal when jogging on busy roads or simply wanting to stay more connected to your surroundings.

Sound Quality – Way Better Than Expected

Let’s be honest: expectations for open-ear audio often lean toward compromised sound. But TOZO flips that assumption on its head. The 14.2mm dynamic drivers deliver surprisingly full and rich sound, with bass that genuinely thumps. In fact, compared to TOZO’s own in-ear buds, these open versions outperform in clarity and depth, something we didn’t expect.

Directional sound tech helps limit noise spill too, meaning you won’t be blasting your playlists into the world around you.

Tech & Performance – Reliable and Robust

With Bluetooth 5.3, connectivity is rock-solid, and we had no dropouts across various tests. The USB-C case is a bit on the large side, but it feels sturdy, and battery life is a major plus: 12 hours per charge and up to 42 hours total with the case.

The buds are also backed by DSP noise reduction for clearer calls, and the TOZO app gives you access to five preset EQ profiles, adding another layer of customisability.

Verdict – A Refreshing Take on Wireless Audio

If you’re someone who’s never quite loved traditional earbuds, or if you’re after a sport-ready, safer alternative that doesn’t seal off the outside world, the TOZO Open Buds are a fantastic choice. They’ve taken a bold design route and nailed the execution. The fit, sound quality, and everyday usability all punch above their price tag.

We’ll be keeping an eye on how battery longevity holds up long-term, but for now, these are a win, and quite possibly TOZO’s best effort to date in the earbud space.
