2025 BMW XM Kith Limited Edition

BMW XM Looks Pretty Menacing Now Following A Kith Makeover

It’s fair to say that the new BMW XM is incredibly polarising among both traditional BMW purists, as well as car enthusiasts, in general. But, whatever contemporary opinions of the XM might be, it does appear that no one seems to buying them. Sales of BMW’s most expensive model in their current line-up have been poor, so BMW thinks it’s time for a quick makeover. Who knows if it’ll even work, but if appearances are anything to go by, this BMW x Kith collab to remake the XM at least looks a lot prettier. In fact, this new 2025 BMW XM by Kith, a limited edition of a mere 47 units, is the third such partnership with Kith’s founder, Ronnie Fieg.

It’s meant to symbolise 47 years since the introduction of the BMW M1, which is quite fitting for the XM since it’s the first all-original BMW M model since then. On the surface, it looks like most of the changes between the standard XM and this Kith limited-edition model are purely cosmetic. For instance, there’s that gorgeous Frozen Techno Violet metallic paint, which was developed exclusively for this model, and it won’t be available elsewhere. Alternatively, if that isn’t to your liking, an equally special Frozen Black metallic paint is available as an option, too. Either way, they both come with a humungous set of 23-inch alloys, finished in Jet Black.

An Ultra-Special Makeover From BMW M & Kith

Elsewhere, look closely, and you might notice some of the other key design elements, such as the dark graphics along the windows. Aside from that, there’s a plethora of metallic accents, M stripes, as well as Kith logos. Step inside, and you can clearly notice a lot of Kith influences here, such as the Kith monogram embossing on the Merino leather upholstery, not to mention the illuminated Kith logos with M stripes on the headrests. You also get a bespoke display that shows off the BMW XM by Kith branding, the Kith logo once again, and just to make sure you feel extra special sitting in this superbly expensive SUV, there are some 1/47 insignias to highlight its rarity.

You’re also getting more monogrammed seating surfaces in the rear, alongside the cool Kith-branded cushions, and matching purple interior ambient lighting. Oh, and since the XM is a hybrid, you’re going to need someplace to stow away those charging cables. In making sure that neither Kith nor BMW missed anything, even the duffle bag for your cables has the Kith branding! Otherwise, if you pop open the bonnet, the BMW XM by Kith is actually identical to the standard, production version XM. As such, it’s powered by the same M Hybrid powertrain, though BMW is keen to showcase some of that M1 heritage, with a few distinct design changes.

An SUV-Sized Tribute To The Iconic BMW M1

Granted, I’m not sure if having dual BMW emblems and louvre-style taillights really gets you thinking about the legendary M1. Nevertheless, BMW did make other mechanical changes from the regular, production XM. These include the suspension, which has been lowered by 30mm at the front, and 35mm at the rear. Furthermore, the track was widened by 40mm on both axles. Between that and the lowered suspension, it’s meant to help with improving your XM’s handling, as well as giving it a meaner look. To help with the immersion, the lighting on the BMW XM x Kith is impressively bold, with accent strips that feature 363 individual LEDs.

The LEDs are colour-changing too, made to emphasise that Frozen Techno Violet theme. If that wasn’t enough, the purple LED headlights with the Kith branding and the purple contour lighting around the gargantuan BMW M grille ought to tell you that this isn’t an ordinary XM. Of course, the XM isn’t the only product of this partnership between BMW and Kith, so if you are someone who loves branded merch, there’s a lot to go through! There is an abundance of BMX-Kith edition apparel and accessories, as well as the 1:18 scale BMW XM by Kith. The XM, even with Kith’s makeover, still isn’t for me, but maybe you might like it more than I do.
