According to recent research conducted by Ipsos, a growing number of consumers no longer view tyres as a commodity and recognise the importance of tyre performance, efficiency, and sustainability. The study found that over four out of five drivers consider performance benefits when buying tyres, with 73% of respondents stating that tyres are either “extremely important” or “important” for their driving experience.
The survey results indicate that drivers believe tyres contribute to safer driving (37%), better control in various weather conditions (16%), improved handling (10%), and fuel savings (8%). This shift in consumer perception coincides with the increasing popularity of electric vehicles (EVs) worldwide, as drivers become more environmentally conscious and demand EV-ready tyres.
Goodyear’s Response to Changing Consumer Preferences
In response to these changing consumer preferences, premium tyre manufacturer Goodyear has developed the newest generation of its highly acclaimed Eagle F1 Asymmetric family. The Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6, an ultra-high-performance (UHP) tyre, delivers exceptional performance in both wet and dry conditions, as well as improved efficiency and sustainability.
Awards and Recognition for Goodyear’s Innovation
Goodyear’s commitment to innovation and quality has earned the company the “Top Manufacturer Summer 2023” award from the prestigious German test magazine Auto Bild. The publication praised Goodyear’s current tyre models, the Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6 and EfficientGrip 2 SUV, for their “convincing dynamic top performance and future-proof sustainability.”
The Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6: Designed for Electric Vehicles
The Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6 has been designed with EV-ready features, such as a more aero-efficient sidewall that reduces drag and improves mileage. Additionally, the tyre’s varying sipe pattern helps to dampen road noise, and a higher load rating accommodates the typically heavier weight of electric vehicles.
Top Ranking and Eco-Master Certification
Auto Bild’s summer tyre test ranked the Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6 first among 49 other summer tyres and certified it as an “Eco-Master” for its efficiency, low rolling resistance, and sustainability. Testers highlighted the tyre’s “premium tread pattern with exemplary performance on wet and dry slopes [and] outstanding mileage.”
Goodyear’s Commitment to Consumer Demands
Sonia Leneveu, Director Marketing Consumer Europe at Goodyear, commented on the trend towards more informed tyre-buying decisions: “Drivers demand more from tyres than ever before, and the trend towards highly informed buying decisions, with drivers focused on technology and sustainability, proves that tyres are not a commodity.”
The Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6 demonstrates the company’s commitment to meeting consumer demands for high-performance, eco-friendly tyres that cater to both traditional and electric vehicles.
