Hennessey is well-known in the world of performance for cranking out truly amazing horsepower out of any vehicle. Be it a pickup truck, supercar, or a muscle car… Hennessey can make it burn rubber any day of the week. A more unlikely pairing between them would be a Ford Bronco, made to be practical, utilitarian, and rugged. Didn’t think that could be made any more sporty, eh?
Well, that argument has been quashed following the unveiling of the Hennessey VelociRaptor 400 Bronco. And yes, as the name (and title) suggests, this reworked Bronco has a perhaps unnecessary 405bhp at the command of your right foot. Along with 503 lb-ft of torque, it can leap from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.9-seconds. It’s all practically unheard of for a Bronco, we imagine.
Off-Roading, Made Better
So, how did Hennessey achieve this? A lot of fine-tuning had to be done to the base 2.7-litre twin-turbocharged V6 from the range-topping Bronco Wildtrak. With the VelociRaptor kit placed on top, it’s added a boost of 75hp and 88 lb-ft of torque in there. This is aided by recalibrating the engine’s ECU, a new exhaust, a high-flow air induction system, and a bit more here and there.
You could also option some more cosmetic upgrades, as well. If you’re planning to go adventuring in style, then why not get a set of 18-inch Hennessey wheels. Accompanying that could be 35-inch off-road tyres. To make it easier to get in and out of, there are retractable side steps, with other small changes along the car.
Only 200 of the Hennessey VelociRaptor 400 Bronco will be made, each one attached with a price tag of circa $80,000. That’s including the Bronco itself, with all the Hennessy bits and pieces costing you back $24,950.
