We attended the launch of the new Peugeot 3008 in Paris. After listening to the press conference and taking a close up look around the cars, the 3008 certainly looks like a good contender. Read below to find out more.
Peugeot have put great effort into completely refreshing the 3008 to make a modern SUV that is ready for this fast moving world. The car has lots of enhancements making this car a very special bit of kit.
2016 Peugeot 3008 Styling
Taking a look at the car, the design of the latest 3008 model fits in very nicely with the Peugeot design styling. Looking at the front of the car, the focal point is the Peugeot badge surrounded by a premium looking grille that has silver tips framing the French badge. From the side you will notice that the lower edge of the car is trimmed in black bumper material allowing the car to easily take easy scrapes whilst out on adventures. From the rear you will notice a new rear light configuration that looks super cool and the rear lights are joined together by a black strip taking inspiration from Peugeot’s concept cars.
Includes the Incredible i-Cockpit
The inside of the car now features the i-Cockpit design which incorporates uses two fully-digitised screens as the driver’s instruments and infotainment system. Taking a first look at the graphics and the experience they give to the driver they look to be a game changer to the interior of the modern SUV.
Superior Interior With Strong Features
Peugeot have talked a lot about making the interior a very sensory place for the driver, the graphics are the highlight to the eyes, the soft feel materials are one for the touch and they have even designed 3 custom fragrances to treat your nose to ensure that the experience inside is more special than any other car out there.
As with all decent new cars the level of connectivity inside the 3008 meets our high demands with taking advantage of CarPlay and MirrorLink properly integrating the mobile phone with the mobile car. Other techie improvements come to the sat-nav unit that now has TomTom Traffic updates and 3D mapping, improving the journey experience.
Bigger and Lighter – Every Little Helps
The 3008 has grown 8 cm in length in its latest integration, but despite the bigger size Peugeot have found ways to make the car 100 kg lighter improving the car’s performance, handling and efficiency. These weight savings don’t come easy either, so great work here.
e-kick – Electrically Assisted Scooter
Last up the was the surprise of the e-kick. An electrically assisted scooter that chargers whist docked in the boot of the 3008. Peugeot say that helping to combat busy town areas and pedestrianised zones the scooter will help make places a lot more accessible.
Verdict – We Love It
Overall, I’m super impressed with the Peugeot 3008. I love the styling on the car, I the love tech inside and the concept of having a boot scooter is something that surely interests me but I’m not convinced I would use it.
