After a brief little hiccup with a supplier that forced INEOS Automotive’s brand-new Hambach plant to a standstill, they have finally, at long last, resumed production of the much-loved and highly-anticipated Grenadier and Quartermaster 4x4s! It was only last year when INEOS had to stop production momentarily to resolve a critical shortage of seats after one of its suppliers became insolvent (Recaro, specifically). Now, with their Hambach production facility up and running, the now-fully operational plant has begun cranking out new off-roaders, where you can now find Grenadiers and Quartermasters gradually departing for showrooms in over 50 countries around the world.
Now, if you were keeping tabs, you might’ve heard that INEOS announced back in November that their Hambach facility would resume production and go back online sometime in January. So, that’s one promise fulfilled! Aside from that, it seems like they’re already kicking off 2025 with a huge bang, as INEOS recorded a whopping 41% year-over-year growth in 2024 alone! If that’s not enough great news and strong momentum to the start of the year, Lynn Calder, the CEO of INEOS Automotive, is pretty optimistic that they could perform even better this year. It isn’t just manufacturing that has seen improvements, as INEOS is ready to turn up the wick.
Solid Momentum After Crippling Manufacturing Hiccups
For starters, INEOS Automotive’s Hambach plant has been busy preparing their production for the future. The cute little smart ForTwo has only just ceased manufacturing in 2024, and with that out of the way and the accompanying assembly line having been dismantled, this should free up valuable space and manufacturing capacity for INEOS’ upcoming developments. That ought to make sense, given that the Hambach facility was formerly a Mercedes-Benz factory, which INEOS bought and took over a few years ago. With global demand heating up for some of INEOS’ hottest models, I’d say they could definitely make do with some extra headroom.
It’s worth bearing in mind too, that INEOS has only recently entered a couple of valuable and potentially lucrative new markets, including Mexico and China. Thus far, INEOS claimed that there are currently more than 20,000 INEOS Grenadiers off-roading and driving about, so this should be a rather important year for INEOS to position itself for additional expansion and growth. Transformation and sales aside, there are a handful of other reasons why we’re massively excited about what INEOS has been cooking up for the future. This includes some new colour options, limited-edition models, as well as hints for new products in the pipeline.
Fresh Colours And New Limited-Edition Models
Right now, INEOS Automotive’s Hambach plant enters its 3rd full year of putting together the Grenadier, and it boasts a solid list of new orders. Some of the first vehicles that came hot off the factory line in 2025 included a ‘Scottish White’ 5-seat Utility Wagon, destined for a pretty lucky customer in southern France. Meanwhile, they then built not one, but two Grenadiers in ‘Devil Red’, which is actually a new colour option that you can now spec for the Grenadier. No doubt one of the more eye-catching paint finishes that I’ve seen on the Grenadier, ‘Devil Red’ will be the 11th paintwork added to the line-up, enhancing its rugged off-road appeal.
Speaking of, the ‘Devil Red’ colour could be paired with contrasting black or white roofs, too! Additionally, in celebration of Belstaff – the British outdoors clothing specialist that INEOS has been partnering with to create limited edition apparel – INEOS isn’t keen on missing out on its centenary, with Belstaff having been founded back in 1924. As a fitting birthday present, they unveiled the Grenadier 1924 special edition, with a super limited run of just 1,924 units. You’ll get a handful of upgrades with the Grenadier 1924, including extra lifestyle accessories, with premium design elements, to boot. It sounds like 2025 is going to be a busy year for INEOS.
