Its conception arose from the beautiful love story of a husband and wife who head a renowned international family. This pair didn’t just request a car; they asked for an artistic representation of their journey.
The Essence of La Rose Noire
Rolls-Royce La Rose Noire Droptail captures the enchantment of the Black Baccara rose – a flower that originates from France and holds a special place in the heart of the commissioning family’s matriarch.
This dark and velvety flower, which appears almost black, reveals a tantalising pearlescent red shimmer under direct light. These vibrant hues, named ‘True Love’ and ‘Mystery’, dominate the colour palette of La Rose Noire.
And just as the rose’s colours shift in different lights, so does the car’s exterior. After a whopping 150 tries, the specialists landed on the perfect paint process to mimic this effect. Layers of clear lacquer, subtly varied in red tone, coat the base colour, giving the car its magnificent play of shades.

The Droptail is not just about its colours; there’s a depth to its design. The roof can be removed, transforming the car from an elegant coupé to a sleek roadster. Special mention goes to the Pantheon grille vanes and the intricate lower front air intake. They’ve been subtly touched up with the ‘True Love’ paint, lending an exquisite attention to detail.
Another breathtaking feature is the alloy wheels. Cloaked in the ‘Mystery’ finish, these wheels play a beautiful game of light and shadow, echoing the nature of the Black Baccara rose.

The inside of the Droptail showcases Rolls-Royce’s most intricate parquetry till date, a painstaking representation of falling rose petals. Crafted with 1,603 black wood veneer triangles, this took nearly two years and an unyielding commitment to perfection.
Moreover, the seats, fashioned with the dual colours, encapsulate the pearlescent essence of the Black Baccara rose petals, drawing the entire design together.

Nestled within La Rose Noire’s dashboard lies an exceptional timepiece by Audemars Piguet. But it’s not just an integrated clock. The client can remove this piece, attach it to a strap, and wear it. This 43mm Royal Oak Concept watch, harmoniously matching the car’s palette, is a testament to the sheer brilliance of craftsmanship and design.
