Transcend DrivePro 220 Review – Perfect Security

We have been testing the Transcend DrivePro 220 dash cam for the past month and we have fallen in love with this impressive camera. We have previously tested the DrivePro 200 and we thought that was good, but the 220 took things to the next level.

The DrivePro 220 brings with it a wealth of additional features that aren’t available on the lesser models. These extra features include lane departure warning, forward collision warning and GPS pathing technology. Most new cars don’t even have this technology, so adding the DrivePro 220 to your vehicle can instantly make it a lot more advanced and safer. Read about some of the features below.

Lane Departure Warning

The intelligent camera is able to identify the lines on the road and notice when you start to sway out of your lane. Once detected, the dash cam gives you an audible warning to alert you to pay more attention. Depending on your driving style some may find it a little annoying, but it is certainly a good way to help keep yourself safe on the road.

Forward Collision Warning

The dash cam is capable of identifying if you are heading towards another car and will alert you audibly if it believes there is a chance of a collision. This is a very handy feature that again increases your safety on the road. The extra few seconds of warning you get could make the difference between life and death.

GPS Pathing Information

This additional feature adds so much more value to the footage in case of an accident. The GPS information is overlaid onto your video, meaning that your location is always shown alongside your speed, date and time. This information could be essential for helping to decide what-went-on-where at a point in time.

Parking Mode

Now this is without a doubt my favourite feature on the DrivePro 220. When you have parked your car and the camera is no longer powered by the car the battery on the dash cam will run the motion detection system and will automatically start recording again if something moves at the front of the car. This is great if your car is vandalised or hit by another car whilst unmanned in a car park.

Overall the Perfect Dash Cam

After spending a good amount of time with this dash cam and testing it in multiple cars I’m very happy with the product. The film quality is right on the money with full HD 1080p recording at 30 frames-per-second making it super clear. Getting the footage off the camera has never been easier with the Transcend app. The feature that gave me complete piece of mind on leaving my pride and joy parked outside is the motion detection as it keeps an eye on your car even when you’re not around.
