Making A Debut
Calling all EV enthusiasts! Get ready to witness the UK debut of NIO’s ET5, a sleek, smart EV that is revving up to join the Electric Avenue at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, from 13-16 July 2023. Currently turning heads in China and across Europe, this performance-driven EV seamlessly combines the luxury of space with the thrill of advanced electric driving.
Design That Turns Heads
The design of the ET5 is a beautiful tribute to NIO’s record-breaking EP9 hypercar. The EP9 shattered records on the hillclimb at the Goodwood Festival back in 2018 and the ET5 borrows from its spectacular style. Sporting muscular haunches, a 1,685mm wide track, and an elegant rear ducktail, the ET5 is as eye-catching as it is impressive.
Intricate features like the chiselled shark nose and flush door handles only add to its unique aesthetics. Additionally, it boasts 33 integrated sensors for advanced driver assistance and autonomous driving capabilities.
High-Octane Performance
Inheriting its high-performance DNA from its illustrious predecessor, the EP9, the ET5 packs a powerful punch.
With a combined output of 360 kW, the ET5 races from 0 to 100 km/h in a blistering 4.0 seconds, thanks to a 150 kW induction asynchronous motor in the front and a 210 kW permanent magnet motor at the rear. These two motors produce a peak torque of a whopping 700 Nm.
Like all of NIO’s smart EVs, the ET5 offers the convenience of charging or battery swapping. You can swap a depleted battery with a fresh, fully charged one at one of its Power Swap Stations in under five minutes. With over 1,561 stations worldwide and 24 million battery swaps under its belt, NIO has battery swapping down to a fine art.
A Luxurious Second Living Room
Step inside the ET5, and you’ll be blown away by the sophistication and elegance of its interiors. Taking inspiration from furniture, fashion, and footwear trends, NIO’s designers have created a luxurious space that feels warm and welcoming. With a conscious move towards sustainability, the interiors use recycled materials and innovative fabrics.
Tech-savvy guests will be impressed by the 256-colour ambient light feature, the Dolby Atmos 7.1.4 surround sound system, the panoramic and immersive digital cockpit featuring AR and VR technologies, and NIO’s AI virtual assistant, NOMI.
UK Plans on The Horizon
While we don’t have an official date for the ET5’s UK launch, NIO is already planning to introduce its user-focused cars and services, like battery swapping and NIO Houses, to the country.
According to NIO UK’s managing director, Matt Galvin, the Goodwood Festival is an ideal platform to demonstrate the innovative user-focused services that make EVs an attractive option for everyone.
