Sixty years since its first participation in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, Alpine has launched the A424_β, its challenger for the premier class of the FIA Endurance World Championship. The A424_β is not only an embodiment of the brand’s DNA but also a promising glimpse into its future.

With distinctive features like Alpine’s future lighting signature, an assertive front end, and a pair of impactful A-arrows at the rear, the A424_β captures the essence of Alpine’s automotive artistry both aesthetically and technically. The design pays homage to its predecessors while showcasing its novel direction.

Unveiling the Genesis of A424_β

This project took off in September 2020 when Alpine announced its return to endurance racing’s premier class. A crucial step was taken in October 2021 with the decision to enter the Hypercar/LMDh category with two cars in 2024.

The design process began in November 2021, with the Design Office drafting the initial sketches. The first engine dyno runs took place in December 2022, and by June 2023, Alpine had presented the A424_β, marking a significant milestone.

A Collaborative Effort: Chassis and Engine

Working in collaboration with Oreca and Mecachrome, Alpine’s A424_β boasts a 3.4-litre single-turbo V6 engine, making it the only one with such a configuration in the LMDh class. The synergy with F1 is evident in the LMDh software, inspired by F1, and the integration of the engine, dynamic operation, and energy management.

The Alpine A424_β boasts an impressive combination of power and precision. The carbon fibre and honeycomb body shell house a V6 single turbo engine capable of generating 675 horsepower. The dry sump lubrication, 7-speed gearbox, and Michelin tyres complete this beast of a car, promising an adrenaline-fueled performance on the track.
